Virginia State Parks
There are five state parks in the area, all of which provide and new and unique experience when you arrive to them! Feel free to call 1-800-933-PARK for any questions about the following!

High Bridge Trail: is the newest addition to the Virginia State Park System and the Town of Farmville! Three and a half miles of the trail travel through the heart of Farmville, and it is open for non-motorized activities. Upon completion, the trail encompass 33.5 miles for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Twin Lakes State Park: is located in the Green Bay area of Prince Edward County. Centrally located, it hosts a variety of activities. Swimming, camping, fishing, canoeing and hiking are popular activities at the park. There are also cabins and campsites available for rental.
![]() Bear Creek Lake State Park: surrounded by the 16,000 acre Cumberland State Forest, provides numerous activities for the outdoor lover in you. Camping, hiking, swimming, playgrounds, picnicking, and an archery range are just a few of the things you can enjoy during your visit. Camping and cabins are available for rental for your overnight stay.

![]() Holiday Lake State Park: located in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest, is a fisherman’s dream. Large-mouth bass, yellow perch, crappie and bluegill are abundant in the 150-acre lake within the park. The nearby state Department of Game and Inland Fisheries delayed-harvest trout stream allows anglers to fish for brown and rainbow trout. There are also excellent trails open to hikers, bikers and equestrians.

![]() James River State Park: is one of the newest state parks in our area. Canoeing, kayaking and tubing are popular river activities, and there are nearly 20 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. Overnight camping and cabin facilities are available for rental.
